My homeschooled son --and his friend --have been taking weekly Spanish lessons with Felipe for a year. (They were both 12 when they started.) They love every minute of it and have learned a tremendous amount. Felipe has a great ability to connect with kids and is a highly skilled teacher--he conducts the classes almost entirely in Spanish right from the start, engaging the kids in conversation that meets them at the level they are at and rapidly expands their abilities. Although they started at slightly different levels--since my son has been studying Spanish for longer and has traveled in Spanish-speaking countries--Felipe is able to make the classes stimulating and engaging for both of them at the same time. He really makes learning fun. |

I've been studying Spanish with Felipe Garces for several years now, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it! His classes are small, cordial and friendly. Felipe supportive style of teaching makes everyone feel comfortable and engaged. What a change from studying foreign language in school! I highly recommend it! |

I am a professional environmental biologist with an extremely busy schedule and very limited time for other activities during the week. However for the past two years I have kept one evening a week open to attend Spanish classes with Felipe. This has turned out to be a highlight of my week. Felipe's classes are fun, absolutely non-stressful, and most importantly, an effective way to learn to understand and speak Spanish. I highly recommend his classes to anyone - from beginners with zero knowledge of Spanish to those who want to hone their Spanish speaking skills. Venga y junta a nosotros! |

I have taken Spanish classes from Felipe Garces for about four years. I liked him from the start because of his personality and beautiful Columbian Spanish. It is clearly enunciated and well-paced. Classes contain all the elements of learning a new language: conversing with others, reading and discussing stories, reviewing/practicing grammar and vocabulary. Felipe goes out of his way to find interesting and timely news articles as well. Another plus is that Felipe has had a varied and interesting life. He tells us about his experiences in his homeland, with previous careers, and during his many world-wide travels. Felipe is a joyful person, who knows how to encourage and instruct those who want to become fluent in Spanish. You can tell he loves his role as a teacher! |

I took some Spanish in high school, college and during a trip to Guatemala, so I'd had several teachers by the time I met Felipe. He truly is the best teacher I've ever had and I look forward to class every week. Not only is he an excellent teacher, presenting conversation, grammar, listening and reading in an easy to understand format, but we laugh and have fun and have created a community in our classroom. His enthusiasm is contagious and I always leave class happy. Our Spanish class is one of my favorite things in the world. |

I have been taking Spanish Classes with Felipe for the past 3 Years. When I started, I could barely speak any Spanish, but with gentle coaching from Felipe, I am now able to put sentences together quite readily. I recently visited Spain and had no difficulty in making myself understood. In fact my friends who were with me were very impressed. I also go to Mexico regularly and am now able to converse with my friends and neighbors in Ixtapa. I am really very pleased with how much I have learned in Felipe's classes. Felipe has a very informal style of teaching and puts everyone in the class at ease. He covers the material in a methodical manner and takes time to adequately explain new material. He makes sure that each student is comfortable with any new material before moving to new topics. In fact he gladly welcomes feedback and modifies the classes to meet the needs of the students. Felipe's classes are fun. The 2 hour class just flies by because so much is covered. The first part of the class is usually devoted to conversation (events of the week), followed by grammar and reading comprehension. He is also very knowledgeable about a variety of topics and so is able to introduce interesting subjects. I thoroughly enjoy Felipe's classes. He cares for his students and is very responsive to their needs. I highly recommend him to all who are considering taking Spanish classes with him. |

I have taken Spanish from Felipe for over two years. He is wonderful! His classes offer a perfect balance of conversation, reading stories and practicing verbs and their tenses. He communicates beautifully with his students – always with a lightness and humor. He makes learning Spanish fun! It's hard to imagine learning Spanish from anyone else. |

I don't think I can say enough good things about Felipe Garces as a teacher. His class is organized and challenging, yet tailored to each students level. We carry on conversations in class, we read, get homework and have a lot of fun learning. It's a high point of my week and I wouldn't miss it. |
